Do other people think Robert Murphy is very under-rated. I think he is easily one of the best players in the league. He rarely drops a mark, is a great kick and when he plays well we generally always win. I think he should get a lot more credit from the media. I truly believe he is one of the classiest players I have seen and could win a brownlow. I also love his unique writing style and the articles he writes for the age newspaper in Melbourne.

I dig his columns!

Up there with my favourite players for the Bone Mill fellows.

Don't dig his articles though - boring brit pop enthusiast. Sort of bloke that'd wear a scarfe that wasn't in team colours.

I like his alternative viewpoints and how he writes/speaks differently to the majority of players, who all say the same boring things in the same boring manner. Murphy doesn't load up with cliches. I'd even go so far to say that he's a football fan in our category.

Whilst there's very few players who's work I enjoy reading, his columns can light up a Thursday.

Well done for mentioning the 'BONE MILL FELLOWS'

I reckon about 1% of 1% of 'Western' supporters would have any knowledge of what the 'Bone Mill Fellows' is all about. Like the situation with BULLDOG TENACITY and your banner

As for the scarf- maybe in a few years time when he finishes his footballing days, he would dress like Doctor Who?- Tom Baker I mean- not Jon Pertwee or the Scottish bloke.

One of my favourite nick names for the Club, I read about it a club publication that I dug up in amongst my Nan's old scrapbooks etc. She was a fanatical Dogs fan, kept all sorts of bits and pieces, including a brief history of the FFC in the early years, complete with theme song pre songs of the 'scray etc. I am not sure where it has gone :P

We've probably taken some poetic license but I know a few people do enjoy a "'mon ye olde" (men from the land of boulders)

And old text I found about Robert Murphy:

NO WAR

The AFL issued a press release saying players were not permitted to make statements about the war after a Western Bulldogs player, Robert Murphy, arrived for his team's official 2003 photo with 'No War' written on his forearm. His captain, Chris Grant, defended Murphy, saying he thought the lack of freedom of speech in Iraq was one of the reasons Australia was fighting the war. Go Dogs!

(Martin Flanagan)

He's one of my favourites, too.

Most recent article is a ripper. He is a true Footscray man these days - just loves the Club and our story and really is unashamed to wear that on his sleeve.
