Yes yes I admit it's pure schadenfreude, but I got up early to watch Rangers v Lyon and the French didn't disappoint me. The poor Gers are out of the Champions League. Mwohahahaha!!!

Congrats to Arsenal and anyone else's team who qualified. {Go Sporting in UEFA!}

For the bluffers - just say you've been impressed with Fenerbache but the in form team are definitely Man United.

But we all know it's Celtic's year right??? well... a bhoy can dream.... MON THE HOOPS!!!

Thanks for the support, DMcG. We're in a bit of a mess currently, in one of our periodical "civil wars" - board, coach, players, fans, everyone is at loggerheads, Porto is already 12 points ahead of us with only 12 league games played, we seem to have a tendency to concede goals in the dying minutes of matches (against Roma, against Man Utd), there is talk of indiscipline among the players, oh well, I'm preparing myself for a long, hard season.

As for Rangers, they rarely do well in Europe. Even during their nine-in-row league title marathon they seldom did well in the Champions League. Not that they lack good players...

Celtic fans are well liked here in Lisbon, by Sporting (identical shirts!) and Benfica fans alike. Celtic played against Benfica in the last two seasons and thousands of Bhoys visited our town. They left a very good impression. Actually, all Scots usually do when they come here.

Maybe Rangers need the Aussies back there- Craig Moore and Kevin Muscat?

Celtic seem to be doing well with Aussie Scot(t) McDonald in their side.

Well, judging from the way Australia did in the last World Cup, that could be the case! A classic comeback against Japan, a good performance against Brazil (to bad that Kewell squandered a few good chances), a fantastic game against Croatia, marred by the erratic perfomances of Messrs. Poll and Kalac and finally that game against Italy (I didn't need a replay to tell that it was never a penalty) - all very good performances.
I suppose there should be some reflection at Ibrox. Rangers do not lack quality players, money or support. They should be able to do much better.
