Thirty years ago today on August 12th 1978- a Saturday afternoon the great man Kelvin Templeton kicked his 100th goal for that 1978 season.

I was there that day away at Morphetville (well Victoria Park for those not familiar with the names of Adelaide Racecourses) and if anyone should wish to see that goal it is here on this website. Just click the Kelvin Templeton image and after a few of his previous goals, the magical ton comes up.

It was a marvellous achievement and I have not forgotten it. What a great player, Templeton kicked 100 in a season in a team that finished 2nd last, well he went on to kick 118 from 21 games- yes 21 he didn't play every game that year.

Magnificent footballer- who has NEVER received the accolades or kudos that a bloke that won a Brownlow Medal and won the goalkicking for the competition twice. Cut down by injury in his prime- would have been the greatest player of all time in anyone's book. Still my most memorable player.
