Vic Mather - a past Footscray footballer died in Queensland a few weeks ago.

Vic moved to Queensland in the mid 1970's and remained there for over 35 years. He had been a friend of the extended family

He didn't return to Melbourne all that often but one occassion he did was in April 1983. He was going to the football on the Anzac Day Monday at the MCG for the Richmond v Footscray game and the plan was to meet up with our group. It was agreed on Bay 7 or Bay 8? -but his group went upstairs into the old Southern Stand and our group went into the bottom deck down below- the bay was right but it wasn't established whether it was upstairs or downstairs. We did see eventually on different trams after the game -very briefly! At least it was a win only 2 points- after a Jimmy Edmond 5 of the Footscray 10 first quarter. Some of that game can be seen on the Footscray Tube chapter.

RIP Vic
