I can see Mourinho failing with England, but only if he antagonised non-Chelsea players during his stint at that club to the point that they will absolutely refuse to work with him. Otherwise, I believe he'll be all right. What you got to understand with Mourinho is that he's only concerned with his players. His players are his only "target audience" and he doesn't care if the rest of the World thinks he's a miserable bastard as long as the players are ready to walk on hot coals for him. In fact, he thrives on other people's hatred, he believes it helps create that "us against them" mentality which is a feature of his teams.
I should know this, as I'm Portuguese, support Sporting Lisbon and Mourinho coached both of our greatest rivals, Benfica (albeit shortly) and Porto. There were times I wished he'd drop dead and, to this day, there are people over here that always want his teams to lose. But if he's appointed and England's players fall under his spell, there could be good times ahead for England.

JM's record is very impressive he may have what it takes to succeed. You can't fault his record at Chelsea.

I would have loved Jose as Socceroos coach. I think he's a great character. He's like a James Bond villain.
Also would have loved Jurgen Kilnsmann, a brilliant tactitician.
But let's give Pimm a chance, last thing we want to do is start bagging our coaches before a ball's been kicked.
I mean we're not England.
