It was 10 years ago today- that Sir Donald Bradman left us.

I remember it so well- I couldn't believe it on that Tuesday the 27th February when we first learnt of his death that had occured two days earlier on Sunday the 25th February. I just assumed that he was going to go on on forever.

Five eras of test cricket

1877-1908
1908-1928
1928-1948
1948-2001
2001-

Well that is how I see it.

If you wanted to narrow it down to 4 eras you could make the first one 1877-1928

Am I right in thinking that Australia's greatest national sporting heroes are probably cricketers, as cricket was always a sport with a nationwide following, whereas football and rugby each appealed to a different part of the country and were more or less disliked in the other part?

Also, do you wish that Australians were still able to be knighted, or are you glad that the title "Sir" will forever be restricted to the great heroes of the past, like Bradman?
