... doesn't exist. At least as far as I know. But it doesn't have to stay that way. If you know someone who lives in Portugal and would like to play footy, let me know.

Certainly- can anyone help Lisbon here- there is a pretty reasonable Danish Aussie Rules competition over there in Denmark. Be good to get it going in Portugal.

The Danish AFL is actually one of my inspirations. They started out with three people and they now have a six-team Premier League and two regional leagues, Skane (which is actually in Sweden - 4 teams) and North Zealand (4 teams).

They appear to like us the Danes -Aussie Rules football and then Mary Donaldson- our Princess Mary.

We've managed to do quite a bit since I last posted here. Fremantle has agreed to sponsor a team in Lisbon, the "Lisbon Dockers", we've held more than 20 practice sessions since July 2010 and on March 19 held our first practice match, on a proper (rugby) pitch and everything. After 30 minutes six goals and nine behinds had been scored in the "Lisbon Dockers purples" v "Lisbon Dockers whites" match.
Playing in the back pocket, I didn't score, and my numbers were 8 handballs, 2 kicks and 6 tackles and I gave away one free. But I'm in this for the fun, and for helping the game grow, so I don't really care if I'm not the next Brian Lake!

Here's the squad-

Also, Brett Kirk, who's currently going around the world to promote the International Cup and Australian Football in general was in Lisbon a couple of days, had a kick with a few of us and helped call a game on Eurosport 2, with me translating what he said. I must say that he's a true champ, I really liked to meet him, he's a great ambassador for the AFL, no doubt!
